OUR TROOP

Who We Are

23rd Shrewsbury re-launched the scout troop in the autumn of 2013. We are not a large troop - we have 18 scouts and 3 leaders - but what we lack in quantity we make up with enthusiasm.

LEADING YOUNG PEOPLE TO LIFELONG VALUES

Scouts helps children and young adults reach their full potential. Scouts develop skills including teamwork, time management, leadership, initiative, planning, communication, self-motivation, cultural awareness and commitment. We help young people to get jobs, save lives and even change the world.

What We Offer

We are part of the UK's biggest mixed youth organisation. We change lives by offering 6- to 25-year-olds fun and challenging activities, unique experiences, everyday adventure and the chance to help others so that we make a positive impact in communities.

Scouts take part in activities as diverse as climbing, caving, hikes, photography and (of course) camping. As a Scout you can learn survival skills, first aid, computer programming - there’s something for every young person. It’s a great way to have fun, make friends, get outdoors, express your creativity and experience the wider world.

Uniform and Badges

Scouts wear a teal green shirt or blouse, navy blue activity trousers or skirt, a group scarf with a woggle, and a Scout belt. Our group scarf is maroon with a grey border.

There is a range of badges and awards available to young people in the Scout Section. Many of the badges available are activity badges, which allow Scouts to show their progress in existing pursuits, but also to try all kinds of new things and form new interests.

Gaining a challenge badge involves accomplishing a number of more ambitious tasks within the Troop or community. There are several challenge badges across a number of themes, from the physical and outdoorsy to challenges dealing with the local community or issues connected with the Scouting world.

The highest award available in the Scout Section is the Chief Scout's Gold Award.
